Scheduled prehistoric carved boulder unearthed on private land within Stobgreen Plantation, north of Eggleston, County Durham. First discovered by Paul Brown in 1996, this ancient rock was catalogued as 'Stobgreen Plantation 2' by NADRAP on ERA and described in detail: 'Cup marks are skillfully arranged along the top part of the panel and are well-rounded and uniformly shaped. Two cups appear to be naturally formed by weathered edge erosion, each featuring natural cracks running through. Four other cups are likely carved with precision, their shape, uniformity, and placement on the face making it unlikely they were developed from erosion.' ERA information is available at https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=2012. Historic England has listed rocks within the plantation: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1021115. A 3D model was created from 5 stereo pairs captured by Joe Gibson & Keith Elliott (NADRAP Team 3) in November 2006. The imagery forms part of the full NADRAP archive deposited with Historic England.
