The Cape Stoba shipwreck was painstakingly excavated by the Department of Underwater Archaeology of the Croatian Conservation Institute, under the expert guidance of Igor Miholjek, between 2009 and 2015. Collaborating closely with researchers from Ca' Foscari University of Venice since 2012, led by renowned professor Carlo Beltrame, a remarkable treasure trove was unearthed. The Byzantine cargo, dating back to the 10th or 11th century, consisted of more than ten distinct types of amphoras, exquisite glass objects sourced from the vicinity of Constantinople, and two impressive Y-shaped anchors. This historic vessel lies submerged on the slope of a rugged coastline, with its remains scattered across a depth range of approximately 9 to 28 meters.
