Stitch Disney- easy print with Fuzzy Skin mask
thingiverse
I was looking for a model to test out Cura's "Fuzzy Skin" settings and ran across this Stitch that I thought would be perfect: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4352823However, I didn't want the eye's, nose, toes, or the insides of the ears to be fuzzy so I created this mask that you add in Cura. Places where the models overlap will print normally. The eye's on the original model were messing this up though, so I remodeled it so the eye's and the body are all one piece now. Here's how you use it in Cura. (I'm not sure about other slicers):Add the stitch3.stl and the stitch_fuzzy_mask.stl files.Drag the mask mesh until it overlaps Stitch as seen in the included picture. For me, with no scale Stitch is at(0,0,0) and the mask is at (0, 1.801, -2.7914)Select the Stitch mesh and in Print Settings check "Fuzzy Skin"I used the following settings but you can try different values to make it more or less fuzzy:Fuzzy Skin Thickness: 0.3Fuzzy Skin Density: 3.0Next, select the mask meshClick on "Per Model Settings" (on the left)Select "Modify settings For Overlaps"Change dropdown from "Infill mesh only" to "Cutting mesh"Click "Select Settings" button and select the fuzzy mesh settings.Close that window and leave the Fuzzy Skin setting unchecked.See the included picture for all these settings. Now when slicing, the fuzzy skin texture will be applied everywhere except where the meshes overlap (eyes, nose, toenails, the insides of the ears, and the hairs on top his head)Before printing look at the preview to make sure everything looks smooth that's supposed to, especially the insides of the ears. If not, adjust the position of the mask and slice it again.
