A Protective Shield for Electric Skateboards and Longboards This shield serves a dual purpose, offering some level of impact protection while also safeguarding your HobbyKing 150 ESC against water and elements. Please be aware that disassembling the HK150 to make this work probably voids any existing warranty. Proceed at your own risk. Similarly, skateboarding wasn't intended for motorization, so use caution when riding. Don't forget to wear a helmet, and do your best not to put yourself in harm's way. Disassembly Instructions First, take apart the HK150 by removing its protective cover and fan, then unplug the fan from its connections. Be aware that this procedure may void any warranties. For extra protection, apply silicone covering around any exposed connections; try using transparent or clear material as I accidentally used a brown one and it looks terrible. Print Details This shield can be printed in ABS with a height of 2mm and 4 shells on the build plate at 110 degrees Celsius, while the rafts come off separately. The enclosure can be oriented either upside down or right side up, but personally, I prefer having it printed upright. A small area will fit snugly behind the remote's receiver, ensuring a completely stealthy design. Assembly Instructions Thread the on/off switch through to the side and then slide it inside, holding the remote in place with ease. You can attach both parts together securely by using 1/2" long wooden screws, keeping an inch of regular wood screw unengaged for clearance from the back panel's rear screw hole to prevent any potential electrical issues. This protective shield might not be ideal for flooded areas but hasn't caused problems even when encountering small puddles. Using matte black spray paint adds an impressive look but printing in standard black seems far more stunning, a personal preference, indeed.
