Sticky Stand for iPhone 4 or ? (Printers Tape Roll Tripod)
thingiverse
I wanted to see my brand new i3 Prusa Electron in action from another room. I've got an iPhone 4 that I used - and designed this Sticky Stand (since it fits into a roll of Printers Tape for stability) making space for its 30 pin connector... so the power cord wire won't kink. It's a tight fit in the center of a roll of printers tape (or masking tape) that makes sure your mobile device leans against the upright (that has holes to use for rubber band tie downs, etc), which is high enough for support in portrait mode, but still doesn't block the camera's view of the printer bed and print in progress. You can also lean your mobile device horizontally and get a more direct, side view of the print bed. I wanted to make a time lapse movie so I came up with this stand. I built it in Rhino on a Mac, starting from a file of the tape hub ring.stl that was included in the Bergen Maker Space class "notes" where I built the printer from a kit with the help of fellow makers. That was just a few weeks ago, my entry into the world of 3D printing (and designing). This is my first contribution to the community. I'm a novice in Rhino as well as 3D printing (I do have experience with 3D modeling). The pictures will probably reveal all sorts of problems to a pro's eye? I've included not only the .stl file but also the Rhino design file. Please feel free to "tighten it up' and let me know where/how I might have improved things? This is the 4th design iteration. I thought, good enough for my first contribution to this community! I really find it useful! The interesting thing is I watched it being printed from afar...using Periscope. It was an act of faith to let the printer print without a watchful eye nearby...as the printer has been throwing all sorts of curves at me for the last 24 hours. Extruder gear working loose, its set screws stripped (new from a kit mind you), making noises, changing bed height on a whim, numbers flying off scales, port missing in action, etc. I guess that's my welcome to the world of 3D printing. LOL Anyhow, I hope you find the Sticky-Stand Time-Lapse Tripod and Broadcast Camera Rig (originally made for my Runcam2 Quad camera) useful! BTW, it makes for a great business card holder as well for trade shows! Enjoy!
