It appears that mdb and I have both been working on similar concepts. Although the code is rough and not yet ready for release, I wanted to upload it so we could exchange ideas. Our projects are strikingly similar due to their simplicity and shared purpose; you can find mdb's project at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:21864. Please feel free to experiment with the code, but be aware of its numerous issues. Recently, I have been trying to improve support material auto-generation for parametric connectors. However, Slic3r has not been able to recognize areas that should render as thin walls (for example, 0.5mm x 10mm x 10mm boxes).
