I could not find a mount for E3D Hemera to my Ender 5 Plus I liked. Using the original metal back plate was too constraining. So it had to go. Not sure how solid a plastic part with an eccentric nut will be.
Update 2020-10-20
I have been using this design with good results for 2 - 4 weeks now. There are some improvements in the uploaded parts I have not tested yet but I believe they work ok.
Main objectives
* KISS (having a hard time adhering to this sometimes) * Supporting both BLTouch and piezo element as z-probe * Full or near full build area (not there yet) * Design files will always be available (hate when you only get the STLs). As long as F360 (free) supports exporting to STEP I'll export this in addition to F360 files.
Printed parts
* Adapter plate replaces the X-carriage extruder mount plate * Piezo yoke is an experimental piezo mount to "catch" the pressure between the two upper Hemera mount screws. It works as a yoke to to push on the piezo on a single point. It's designed to hold the piezo element with o-rings (22x2 mm or 22x3 mm) or a similar rubber gasket. The o-rings should also give proper pre-tensioning. * Experimental wedge belt stopper to grip the belts. No extra parts other than the wedge. More tension on the belt should grip it tighter. This has worked flawlessly over a month now. * Belt bump is an optional part to push the belt towards the v-slot so the movements will be more linear. I don't like that the belts are at an angle as it will make the geometry slightly wrong.
Areas of improvement
* Belt routing through the carriage is a bit cumbersome to do the first time but it seems to work. Considering having two separate wedges instead of one for both sides. * Fan shroud optimization of air flow. Seems to focus before and below the nozzle tip. The two funnels could be spaced wider.
Other parts
* E3D Hemera * 135 cm or longer GT2 belt (stock belt is too short) * 4020 blower fan as replacement of the stock parts cooler * Piezo z-probe (optional), https://www.precisionpiezo.co.uk/product-page/copy-of-precision-piezo-universal-z-probe-kit * O-ring 22x2 mm or 22x3 mm * 6 M5x10 washers (shim the 3 stock M5 bolts for v-slot wheels) * 1 M5x20 washer (the M5 lock nut needs a washer as the "eccentric hole" is a bit big when 3d printed) * 4 M3 x 20 mm * 4 M3 x 14 mm * 2 M3 x 8 mm (could use 6 mm or longer)
For everyone uploading designs
**Please share your design files or proper model files, not just the STLs** Online project (haven't tested this yet.
