As a third-year student in Industrial Design on the product track at the University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning, I created a jewelry set inspired by Stevie Nicks' song "Seven Wonders" and the Ancient Seven Wonders. My professors are Allan Henderson and Steve Doehler. The collection features seven unique, clean, geometric, and simplistic pieces of jewelry. The packaging showcases images of Stevie Nicks and the wonders on a simple plastic sheet for easy manufacturing and retail sales at stores like Kohl's or Claire's. Three pairs of earrings symbolize the Lighthouse of Alexandria, Great Pyramid of Giza, and Hanging Gardens of Babylon, all SLS printed with gold metal and embellished with enamel paint. Two rings represent the Statue of Zeus at Olympia and Colossus of Rhodes, while a third ring features the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus. The highlight is the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus necklace, which opens to store memorabilia. In fall 2017, I will study abroad in Florence, Italy, taking classes like Fashion Illustration and Accessories Design. If selected for the scholarship, funds would cover tuition, housing, and travel expenses. The experience will enhance my personal growth and intellectual understanding of foreign cultures.
