As part of my advanced 3D printing class project, I opted to revamp the stethoscope design to take it to a whole new level. Drawing inspiration from a previous student's concept by Brett Barker, I pushed the boundaries further with innovative changes that upgraded the earpiece to a diaphragm-style model, equipped with dual heads and featuring an attachment point for a membrane. Key specs for the upgraded design: Print Settings: - Printer Brand: RepRap - Printer: Athena - Rafts: Yes - Supports: Yes - Resolution: 0.1 mm per layer - Infill: 20% Assembly and Add-Ons: Following printing, several essential components need to be procured: - Black plastic tubing (24 inches in length) - Two Tygon tubing pieces (6cm each) - A small balloon, to be used as the diaphragm membrane - A 2" outer diameter plastic O-ring Instructions for diaphragm attachment: 1. Sever the nozzle from the balloon and stretch the remaining rubber across the lower earpiece part. 2. Secure it in place with a snug-fitting O-ring.
