Sterling Motor connecting rod
thingiverse
Three connecting rods for Sterlingmotor are being fabricated. The original components were made of metal and produced noise. New ones have been designed to minimize noise, friction, and wear. The shortest rod (36mm x 1.5mm) is intended for the displacer piston. The middle rod (42mm x 1.5mm) has the same length as the original working piston. The longest rod (46mm x 1.5mm) is designed to reduce air volume by completely enclosing the working piston within the cylinder, resulting in a more intense pressure change. This setup is currently being tested and is not functioning as expected. In comparison, V2 versions of the connecting rods have single-line designs with lengths of 36mm and 42mm, each measuring 1.5mm thick. To create these rods: 1. Print them using a suitable method. 2. Drill holes in both ends, but be sure to use a smaller drill bit for the shorter rod (at least 2mm) and a larger one for the longer rod (at least 3mm). 3. Remove a section from each rod. 4. Smooth out the edges with fine-grit sanding paper. 5. Once complete, you can assemble the connecting rods according to your needs.
