Sterilite Container Blue Hinged Latch Replacement
thingiverse
Hello Internets, I have a few Sterilite containers that are clear and have blue handles. And I also have a few Sterilite containers that *are supposed* to have blue handles, but they broke. These are the "smaller" blue handles like you find on the Sterilite containers that have no lid gasket seal. User Dnard, thing 2676524, had made a version of the handle as a replacement, and while I generally liked his design (and am grateful to have had a starting point), I found that it wasn't quite true enough to the original handle for my liking - it had binding issues when you would close the latch, because the outer wall of the latch was supposed to be sloped. Enter this remix. I added a slope, the 3 handle inner "bite rails" (not sure what to call them), and added a little lip on the end of it to make it a closer substitution with less binding - making the lid 'close' feeling/experience nearly exactly like the original. I sliced/printed this using Simplify3D with a 0.32mm layer height, a 0.4mm nozzle, 30% infill, support touching build plate, with eSUN PLA+ Light Blue filament. Hope this helps someone save some perfectly fine bins from ending up in the garbage, and again big thanks to Dnard for the great v1! Cheers,
