Stepper Splitter Box - Dual Stepper Z Axis
thingiverse
This is a splitter box designed to split the stepper drive output to a dual stepper system. Steppers can be connected in parallel or, preferably, in serial connection as shown in my build. This uses common JST-HX vertical PC mount connectors. It's based on the cable method described in an Instructable [https://www.instructables.com/id/Wiring-Your-Z-Stepper-Motors-in-Series/], with a key difference being the substitution of female connectors for a cleaner installation. I utilized a piece of standard perf board that I had on hand, but a custom board can be printed using the enclosed file. When assembling, it's easiest to install connectors into the cover first and then overlay the board for soldering. This makes it simpler to solder because parts are in their correct positions and are secured. Note that the board is not symmetrical, so caution must be taken to ensure parts are in the correct position before soldering. The base is modeled with M3 threads, but I always run a tap through to clean the threads before assembly. Assemble using two 15mm long M3x0.5 screws.
