Stepper Shaft Key
thingiverse
This remix of the direct drive key was written from scratch by me, drawing inspiration from Marty Rice's design published along with his innovative direct drive extruder (thing #501755). A slight variation, this version boasts a bit more strength and uses a tad more material; nonetheless, it retains its overall resemblance to the original. My code, however, is built ground-up in OpenSCAD, allowing for seamless remixing capabilities. Please be aware: attempting to turn the stepper shaft while the motor is still active could lead to dire consequences! Furthermore, I strongly recommend reviewing the instructions carefully before embarking on the printing process! Instructions: Due to the minuscule clearance between this key and the 5mm diameter D-shaped shaft typically found in Chinese steppers, it's highly advisable to scale up your print by a modest 3~4% in whatever slicing software you are using. To confirm the results, I printed this model with PLA at an infill of 40%.
