Step-to-open Trashcan Lift Part

Step-to-open Trashcan Lift Part

I purchased a replacement part for my Step-to-open 13 Gallon Tall Kitchen Trash Can from Costco about two years ago. The component that connects to the small oil-damper (attaching to a bracket and the lid mechanism, which facilitates slow lifting and lowering of the lid) snapped when I stepped on the foot pedal. Instead of discarding the entire trash can, I measured the area in question and created my first DIY project using Autodesk Inventor. The replacement part functioned flawlessly! I disassembled the region on the trashcan where it was originally installed and replaced it with my new, upgraded component. Necessarily, I reinforced the edges around the broken section to prevent future failures. Since my trashcan lid is now operational again, I'm able to dispose of various items, and I design and print replacement parts with ease!
