step drill box
thingiverse
I purchased a step drill set at a discounted price from Harbor Freight, but it lacked a protective pouch, prompting me to create this custom box. The joint between the top and bottom pieces is designed for zero-clearance, resulting in an extremely tight fit. To achieve a smooth sliding motion, I worked the parts back and forth or used sandpaper/file until the fit was snug. The largest drill in the set measures 3/4 inch at maximum, while the other two are 1/2 inch. You can find this step drill set by searching for Item #91616 on Harbor Freight's website. Manufacturing the box required 40 grams of ABS plastic and approximately 100 minutes of printing time, with a layer thickness of 0.3mm and a raft used to ensure stability. I've also included metric versions for your convenience.
