The Polargraph controller at http://polargraph.co.uk is a great tool, but its choice of electronics restricts stepper motor options in terms of size and selection. I opted for Stepstick drivers with 1/16 microstepping, customizing the Polargraph firmware to work with step/direction drivers. My printed files are available at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:16692. The instructions have been updated on github (https://github.com/lanthan/polargraph4dirstep) and here, with positioning and vector features now fully functional. Compatible with Arduino 1.0 and the latest Accelstepper libraries.
