Step Blocks for 1/4" or 5/16" Bolt and T-Track
thingiverse
I needed some low-profile step blocks to hold material securely, but they had to fit on my drill-table for my bench drill-press and CNC machine without taking up too much space. These blocks will work with standard 1/4" and 5/16" bolts, as seen in the photos with 1/4-20 bolts and T-track purchased from Amazon, which I used to build my drill-press table. I was inspired by UltiArjan's low-profile step-blocks on Thingiverse, but I designed these blocks from scratch using Fusion 360 to accept both 1/4" and 5/16" bolts. There are two versions of the block: one that can hold a workpiece at heights between 8mm and 20mm with the clamp horizontal, and another that holds a workpiece at heights between 18mm and 30mm. If you need an even taller version, feel free to ask - it's perfectly fine to have the clamp slightly angled. For optimal results, I recommend printing the blocks with three perimeters, standard layer height of 0.2mm, and 30% gyroid infill for added stability. Print the clamp at 100% rect infill for extra rigidity.
