Stemmed Point Base XCB-003-305 XCB-003, or IZM-003, is a site thoroughly examined by A.P. McCartney in 1971. It serves as the definitive type-site for the Izembek Phase. A small village boasts a one-of-a-kind whalebone house and numerous artifacts remarkably similar to those discovered in the Bristol Bay region. This remarkable find dates approximately from 1200-1350 CE. Alaska Peninsula artifacts are presented as a direct result of extensive research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner, the Principal Investigator, spearheaded this groundbreaking study. These artifacts were meticulously scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. They underwent comprehensive processing in Geomagic or Polyworks. A total of 2-8 photos were utilized for texture in Geomagic Wrap. The original digitizing work was expertly completed at the IVL at Id. St. Univ. Subsequent meticulous processing and publication were carried out at Global Digital Heritage. McCartney, A.P., expertly explores Prehistoric Cultural Integration along the Alaska Peninsula in his 1974 study, published in APUA 16(1):59-84. Maschner's findings are prominently featured in doi: 10.1353/arc.2011.0007 Arctic Anthro., January 1, 2004 vol. 41 no. 2 98-111.
