Stellated Orchid Puzzle

Stellated Orchid Puzzle

This extension of the Orchid Pennyhedron Puzzle comes together to form the first stellation of the rhombic dodecahedron. Three unique pieces fit seamlessly via coordinated motion. In the photos, a smaller blue key-chain version made years ago blocks this coordinated motion, preventing it from coming apart until removed. Disassembling is effortless, assuming the puzzle is loose enough. However, assembling is slightly more challenging but still not difficult. By scaling down this puzzle to match the Orchid Pennyhedron Puzzle's volume, I've ensured they are equal in size. Print one copy of each piece and be surprised – no supports are required in the given orientation. The fit of this puzzle relies heavily on the offset, which is the amount shaved off each face. I've included pieces for 30 and 50 micron offsets. On my printer, the 30 micron offset pieces work flawlessly, but with the 50 micron offset, the puzzle becomes loose.
