Stela of funerary banquet: "Banquet of Attalos"

The epitaph (funerary inscription) is engraved beneath the sculpted relief: “Attalos, son of Asklepiodoros, greetings!”. The scene depicts a man, his wife and their servants. A female servant holds a cylindrical box that resembles the Arsinceion rotunda built by the queen of Egypt, Arsinoe II, in Samothrace (northern Aegean Sea). This may indicate that the wife od the deceased was initiated into the mystery cult of Great Gods on the island of Samothrace.
