The Steinway & Sons emblem is almost perfectly symmetrical and artistically places two S's in a distinctive Rorschach pattern. With this placement requiring minimal effort, the symbol clearly depicts a lyre with an ampersand positioned at its center. At the bottom, three foot pedals are featured, with the middle one designed by Steinway in 1875. Although some embellishments are used to decorate and enhance the mark, the overall design avoids being overly elaborate, and it has remarkably endured over the years.
