Stegosaurus

Stegosaurus

This is a model Stegosaurus I created for my daughter, who wanted a dinosaur toy to paint. She loved it so much! Using SelfCAD, the build process was very straightforward. I found a reference image of a Stegosaurus and attached it to the vertical guide plane to shape the build precisely. Next, using Spheres and Cylinders, I built out the body, tail, head, and legs. The neck and tail are just cylinders with the horizontal loop moved and scaled to create a cone-like shape. Why use cones instead? Well, I wanted to avoid the sharp point on the end that cones typically have. The "fins"/"spines" on the back were made using the 2D Drawing tool. I made the rough shape of one, then scaled and rounded them so there were no harsh edges. After that, I used sculpting tools to add some muscle tone and pull out the claws on the feet. The last picture is of the printed version my daughter then painted. We're really pleased with the model, and I hope it brings joy into your families' lives too!
