Stegosaurus Dinosaur Costume Spikes - LED Halloween

pinshape

I was approached with a request to design a series of dinosaur-inspired spikes that would house a line of bright LED lights and have variable shapes and sizes. Here they are! These spikes can be attached to any shirt or jacket to transform yourself into a freaking dinosaur, specifically a Stegosaurus, or even Godzilla! To assemble the spikes, print them from clear PLA and attach LEDs with the base plate. A laser-cuttable version is available on hackaday: http://imakethin.gs/blog/glowy-dinosaur-hoody Instructions: Print one of the spikes and then print a base. Insert your LED wire into the slots and line up the light itself between the four guide posts on the base. The base should be glued or welded together with acetone. This design looks great with blue PLA and bright lights. To create this project, you will need: Print spikes of different sizes from clear PLA. Print a base plate for each spike. String addressable LED strips through base plates (supplier links below). Glue or tape the spikes onto the base. Safety pin or sew the spikes in place. Addressable LEDs that work include: Sparkfun: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11020 Bliptronics: http://bliptronics.com/item.aspx?ItemID=87 Adafruit: http://adafruit.com/products/738 Coolneon: http://www.coolneon.com/category/total-control-lighting/
