Steering Column Holster - Fits Ruger LCP / Ford Expedition '07
thingiverse
This concealed holster attaches beneath the steering column in a 2007 expedition using existing screws and holds a Ruger LCP compact pistol securely. It features an effortless entry for the pistol, coupled with a firm grip once fully inserted. The trigger is completely covered when holstered, and the barrel points directly to the left side door. The holster/pistol position enables unobstructed movement of the tilt wheel and does not interfere with the steering wheel whatsoever. As can be seen in the accompanying photos, I printed this design in red and then painted it black - my personal preference would have been to print in a flat black color, but unfortunately, I didn't have the necessary filament on hand at the time. The slots integrated into each flank of the holster serve a specific purpose: they reduce the risk of delamination when printing, which is definitely worth trying out for yourself - it truly works. If I were to revisit this design and make any modifications, one thing I would consider doing is thickening up the top and bottom plates slightly. Unfortunately, during the removal process, I accidentally cracked mine a bit when I was taking out the supporting material (I had used very dense support to aid in printing this large part). Although I may return to this project at a later time and implement these changes, for now, I simply don't have the necessary time.
