Steel Frame Printrbot 3D Printer
youmagine
Our Maker Club sparked a discussion about just how large a 3D printer could be, inspired by a custom Printrbot R&D prototype that caught our eye on Google+. This design empowers you to build a 3D printer using Slotted Steel Angle Stock with 5/16" bolts. These parts offer unparalleled flexibility when building on a massive platform - physical limits will inevitably impose themselves on size and shape, leaving it up to you to test out ideas, explore, learn, and have fun. I'm not providing build instructions for this; it's not a kit, nor am I claiming it will produce a superior bot than what already exists. This is solely for our Maker club to assemble, learn from, and enjoy. We decided to share the files online so others can give it a try. Parts are labeled, but you'll need to figure out how you want to build it on your own. A good resource would be the original Printrbot build on YouTube; you'll just have to translate the X, Y, and Z axes for this bot onto the slotted steel stock yourself.
