The Stechkin Pistol Model is a Soviet Union-designed and manufactured semi-automatic pistol chambered for 9x18mm Makarov cartridges. Initially known as the APM-1, this firearm was created by Igor Stechkin in the 1950s for the Russian military. It was primarily intended for use as an officer's sidearm but saw limited service due to concerns over its reliability and accuracy. The pistol features a unique rotating bolt design that helps to cycle the action, allowing it to fire from a closed or open position. This mechanism also enables the pistol to be field-stripped without removing any small parts, making maintenance relatively straightforward.
