Making Steampunk keyboards involves replacing standard keys with custom-designed round replacement keys that are 16mm in diameter. To accommodate decal placement, each key features a 2mm deep recess that can be filled with either a clear cabochon or epoxy sealant to protect the letters once they're applied. For self-made letter decals, it's crucial to apply a transparent coat of paint first, followed by adhesive application. When using pre-printed decals, I use Gorilla glue to securely fasten them in place.
