Steampunk Industrial
sketchfab
I've finally mastered creating detailed 3D scenes on Sketchfab. My latest project, a Steampunk scene, pushed my skills to the limit as I sought to incorporate Iron, Brass, and Bronze without using wood at all. This presented several engineering challenges that needed to be overcome. For instance, the iron components had to be coated with zinc-oxide to prevent immediate rusting in the steam environment. Additionally, phosphor bronze was chosen for the metal pipes due to its high melting point and low heat dissipation properties, which is crucial when working with steam power systems designed to retain heat for as long as possible. I also wanted to include incandescent lightbulbs, a nostalgic touch that added to the scene's realism. The exterior of this scene was designed to be rendered in a nighttime setting, as the PBR materials used throughout the scene resulted in overexposure due to sunlight. Once the nighttime scene is complete, the main door will swing open, revealing the interior. Despite the scene's complexity, I'm satisfied with its quality considering it takes an eternity to raytrace. The tiny filaments within the lightbulbs serve as the primary source of illumination in the scene.
