Steampunk Goggles using 52mm Photographic Filters
thingiverse
These steampunk goggles use 52mm photographic filters as lenses; affordable ND8 filters from dx.com were used at $6 each. Auxiliary lenses with orange coating were sourced from cheap binoculars. The strap, made from black fabric tape, requires improvement with stretch. PLA printing demands raft and support on makerware for successful goggle production. The bridge, printed separately, clips into the outer ring and can be adjusted by warming with hot water. Auxiliary lugs can be customized or left empty, while buckles benefit from copper Liquid Leaf paint. Strap holes suit up to 25mm wide straps. Filters can be threaded without glue; ideal attachment involves using two pairs of filters and hot-gluing only the rings into eye pieces, allowing for polarizing lenses addition on top.
