Steampunk goggles

thingiverse

These Steampunk-inspired goggles, designed to accommodate 52mm camera lens filters, are currently in prototype phase. The creator aims to complete the final design before Dragon*Con and plans to improve the octopus detail on the blue strap shield, which didn't print well at 0.2mm layer height on their Replicator2 boss's 3D printer. Once finished, goggles can be accessorized with Amazon-purchased color filter camera lenses that fit in the front, but may require redesign for a snugger fit. The current prototype needs filters to be glued in place, which is less than ideal. After painting and sealing, the goggles look impressive, but the top tube may need replacement and redesign for better filter comfort. On August 26, the creator replaced the top-tube piece with a new one that securely holds the 52mm filter ordered from Amazon. The goggles consist of nine pieces symmetrically assembled using 2.5M x 30/35mm bolts and nuts. Various bridge lengths are available to suit different users, and the octopus detail will be further refined in future updates. The goggles will use elastic straps sourced from Guyc's excellent steampunk goggles design.
