Revamp Crab's exceptional Eiffel-design sphere at this link: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4609. In place of the initial round joining plates, utilize starfish-shaped ones. This provides a mesh-like appearance to the completed sphere from girders and lessens the circular surface coverage look. To assemble, follow Crab's original instructions but replace starfish plates with the circular ones. It is drawn for 3mm MDF cutting. You will need: - 24 five-way joiners - 40 six-way joiners - 60 short two-circle girders - 30 long three-circle girders Extras are optional, but superglue after assembly is recommended. Assembly is simple and requires a light touch as parts can break easily. This process takes about an hour. Start from the bottom and work evenly in circles, fitting inside plates at each junction, then the girders, then outside plates and squeeze joints carefully. Remember these rules: - Five-way joiners require 2-hole girders on all sides - Triangles are made of two 2-hole girders and one 3-hole girder - Six-way joiners have three 2-hole girders and three 3-hole girders Finish with a cap of six triangles as a separate piece for more working space. Cutting takes about an hour and a half on an Epilog 36EXT 75W machine. Thanks, Crab, for the original design!
