Steampunk Cyborg Monacle Headpiece with Laser Mount
thingiverse
Say hello to my steampunk cybernetic sea captain Halloween costume! It was designed using TinkerCAD and printed on a 3D printer, taking approximately six hours in total print time (with multiple iterations). After completing this project, I took a break from 3D printing for a few months, but it's definitely worth it as I absolutely love my costume. The costume features a magnifying glass lens from Michael's, which can be adjusted with the help of a bearess. The lens fits into a circle insert that blocks your vision when worn. It is painted black with gold Testor's model paint and comprises four parts: the main headpiece, side laser mount, D-bracket, and O bracket for strap securing. A simple elastic strap from Michael's keeps the costume in place. The side tube on the costume can be converted into an LED enclosure with an LED, resistor, AAA battery, and wires. There are also holes on the monacle and laser enclosure for decorative or functional wiring. The costume includes a "laser" enclosure with "RUN-CMD" written in Pac-Man style font on the side. If you make one of these, I'd love to see an action shot! The 3D print settings include raft and full support with different speeds and temperatures for optimal results. Lastly, the laser can be glued to the side of the monacle at your desired angle, and the elastic strap is secured through the D-clip and rectangular binder. Make sure to pull it tight for a snug fit!
