Steampunk Concert Hall - Modern Cupola
grabcad
This is a project that I started a few years ago but had to abbandon because it became to big for my computer. The idea came to me in a dream - I was putting together a scale model of the "Duomo di Rirenze" and as I was placing the arch supports for the dome I was distracted and began placing each successive arch slightly higher than the previous. As soon as I woke I went to the computer and made a 3d model of what I saw in the dream. You can see the base model in the file "Modern Cupola base study".Then I was thinking about what to do with it when I came up with the idea of making a "modern" victorian concert hall.Which I named "Steampunk Concert Hall". The elements that I have not completed include: concert hall seats, stage lighting and oval curtain, the large overhead screens to be mounted on the central pillar of the cupola for the spectators in the rearmost seats, the machinary that allows the stage to be lowered below the hall for praparation, and the bathrooms and cafès and chairs and tables in the Gallery and the circular restaurant in the back of the Gallery. The idea of the raising stage is that the stage is lowered and curtain closed while the performers get on the stage platform and prepare for the show. When the show is ready to begin the music starts and the oval curtain slowly opens laterally from the center as the stage alowly rises from below giving the impression that it appears out of nowhere. During the end of the grand finale the stage dissapears slowly while the music is still playing and the curtain slowly closes.
