KHR's mandate involves public operation of the steam engine 2141, known as the "Spirit of Kamloops". One of twenty-five engines built by Canadian Locomotive Company in Kingston, Ontario for Canadian Northern Railway, number 2141 falls into the classification of "Light Consolidation" due to its 2-8-0 wheel arrangement. With a working weight of 114 tons, she is classified as "light axle loading". The M-3-d official class is hers alone, making her the only surviving engine of this type.
