Steam Engine Headlamp
thingiverse
I needed a headlamp for my 7 and a quarter gauge live steam locomotive. Making this shape looked like a tough job, so I created a design and printed one out. Luckily, it has resisted the heat from the chimney without melting, and it was made in PLA. I covered it with red oxide primer that sanding down is easy, then added a glossy paint coat. This effectively eliminated any printing lines you can see. The lens is cut from a piece of perspex and smoothed out on the inside to achieve a 'frosted' look. You could also print it with translucent PLA. There are two holes in the base where you attach it, as well as one for running an LED wire through to put light inside.
