Steam Deck VESA Mount (Supports Dbrand Killswitch Case)
thingiverse
I wanted a VESA mount for my Steam Deck and couldn't find one, so I made one. I have the Dbrand Killswitch case and it was important to me that I didn't have to remove my case or kickstand when I dock it in here. It was also important to me that the air intake vent isn't blocked. I skeletonized the back of the stand to help with air flow. It fits perfectly with the Dbrand case and kickstand. Without the Dbrand case there isn't anything at the moment that will prevent the Steam Deck sliding from side to side. (I'll add a solution in the future) I designed it to fit over most VESA mounts. You don't need any screws. You can just slide it over the metal bracket, and it will stay. I did leave holes for screws if you wanted/needed to use them. The holes are 3.9mm diameter which is perfect for an M4 screw to thread into the plastic. The holes go 25mm deep, so you have plenty of room to use longer screws for extra hold. I've used lots of machine screws with my 3D prints and it threads just fine into the plastic. It's surprisingly strong. I recommend buying an assorted metric screw set from Amazon if you don't already have one. (It's simple to use too, in designs just reduce hole diameter by 0.1mm from the screw diamter. An M3 screw fits a 2.9mm hole, M2 fits a 1.9mm hole, etc. It makes it easy to make strong and accurate parts with no supports) There are two holes on top which are also intended for M4 screws. I plan on eventually making a second piece that I can mount to the top of this Steam Deck stand/dock. I will eventually use it to create some kind of spring lock or even a thumbscrew lock to put pressure on the top of the Steam Deck to secure it in place so it works better without the Dbrand case. I'll probably make a top half that holds a USB-C adapter too, so you can make it a true dock. If you don't want to wait for me to do it I've included the Fusion files if you want to edit it yourself. Lastly, I designed it to print without any supports. I hate 3D printing supports so I avoid it in 99% of my designs. I don't care if it looks funky or if I have to use machine screws to hold multiple pieces together to avoid supports. Since the bottom is flat it also works well as a desktop stand if you don't want to use it on a VESA arm.
