A Rock-Steady Rest for Your Wood Lathe You'll need rollerblade or skateboard wheels, 5/8" x 2" screws, 5/8" washers, and 5/8" T nuts to build this steady rest. To make things easier, print out some 5/8" knobs from the design on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2718994 The gcode provided is for Mach 3, and it's designed to work with 3/4" (18mm) plywood. This steady rest fits a lathe with a 9" swing and a 50mm bed slot. The origin point is at the bottom left corner of the bed at its height. You can also use the included Fusion 360 file, which is parametric. This means you can adjust it to fit your specific lathe. Just remember that there are no tolerances built in, so you may need to sand down some parts to get a perfect fit.
