Stead i Cam 0006 [updated design]
thingiverse
The Stead i Cam's design has been updated, featuring improvements such as a smaller laser footprint (600mm x 300mm), an updated camera plate that keeps the camera in place even if the glue breaks, and conversion of all parts to M4. The bearing holder is now a new design requiring minimal glue and features a cage for the bearing. It no longer slips through the handle like previous versions. The axle passes entirely through the handle for increased robustness. The internal moving part has also been updated with numerous improvements. A bill of materials is available, and the original design can be found here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:14226. Designed by Frits Stam and Koen de Greef, the Stead i Cam originated from a desire to create tools for designers despite budget constraints. The open-source project aims to build a community that contributes to the development of design tools. An instruction video for assembling the Stead i Cam is available here: http://player.vimeo.com/video/44562408. The bill of materials includes a metal 4mm cardan coupling, bicycle handle with nice colors, bearings (624-ZZ, 4mmx13mmx5mm), M4 thread in various lengths, a 1/4" x 3/4 HEX bolt, nylon and regular M4 nuts, and M4 washers for weight.
