Stax 202 / 207 Earpad Adaptor Mod
thingiverse
The iconic earpad adapter for Stax headphones! This model is specifically designed to fit perfectly on Stax Lambda models with screw holes positioned in the corners, as shown in the picture. Based on my knowledge, this includes the SR-202, SR-207, and likely all other models released by Stax before the L300. To install this adapter, simply remove the old earpads and then unscrew the 4 corner screws. Next, screw them back in with the adapter sandwiched between. If you plan to A/B test the original pads against these new ones, I recommend downloading my small spacer mod to avoid having to re-stick the earpads every time you swap them. The earpads shown are the Brainwavz Hybrid Angled Pads. I highly recommend using angled pads as Stax models were originally designed to work best with them, ensuring a better seal. For optimal results, print with a dense infill for quality and to prevent bass from escaping. Honestly, I couldn't detect any noticeable sound difference between these new pads and the stock ones, but they significantly improve comfort. However, I wouldn't recommend this adapter for people with larger heads, as it may create excessive clamping pressure that outweighs the softness of the earpads, at least on the SR-202 model. Give it a try and see if it suits you! The inventor file for this adapter is attached, so feel free to modify it as needed. Keep in mind that it may take some force to get the earpad on, but persistence will pay off eventually.
