This exquisite statuette showcases the Virgin standing proudly behind her child, firmly grasping his hands to support him as he stands strong. The Virgin is elegantly dressed in her robe, while baby Jesus is adorned with a radiant halo surrounding his head. A small inscription on the sculpture reads "In loving memory of Lorimer Rees Chaplain". Lorimer Rees, who later became H.L.O. Rees, received his degree from Magdalen College in 1929 and was ordained as a clergyman in London's diocese in 1930. He served as an assistant curate at St. Mary's Somerstown in NW London, while also working as a missioner at Magdalen College's mission. For seven years, he dedicated himself to serving the impoverished residents of a poor district in London, marked by substandard housing and widespread poverty. His dedication earned him a reputation as a compassionate and skilled clergyman. In February 1938, Lorimer Rees was officially appointed as St. Peter's chaplain on the 27th day.
