Statuette of a Girl, Represented as Artemis
myminifactory
Artemis dominated the realms of hunting, moon worship, and chastity as a powerful goddess, alongside her twin brother Apollo. Her entourage typically consisted of nymphs, who accompanied her on frequent hunts in mountainous terrain. A quiver full of arrows rested comfortably over one shoulder, symbolizing her role as the patron deity of archers. Although this sculpture omits the quiver, the diagonal strap across her chest unmistakably identifies the female figure as Artemis. The folds and draping of her peplos garment mirror those found in other statues of the goddess. A noticeable scale discrepancy between her head and body, coupled with a visible crack encircling her neck, suggest that her head may be a later repair or replacement.
