Discovery near the Arles amphitheater, this statuette represents a gladiator called secutor (in Latin) or "the pursuer." He is fully equipped to face the retiarius, his sole opponent armed with a trident, a net, and a dagger. Their duel was particularly enjoyed by spectators.
