This wooden male figurine stands at 58 cm tall and is dressed in a leather loincloth, which was later added. The reliquary box it sat atop and the plume tuft on top of its skull have since vanished. The Byeri is an ancestral cult of the family lineage. It's practiced among the Fang people of Gabon and Cameroon, resulting in sculptures, male or female, representing the deceased whole or just their head. These sculptures sat atop a reliquary box containing fragments of the deceased's skull. Inventory number: 93.1.2549 from the collections of the Ernest Cognacq Museum at Saint-Martin de Ré (17 - France). 3D digitization: scanned with Eva - Artec3D scanner.
