On display at the Commendator's House Museum in Melrose is this statue of the Virgin and Child, originally built into a recess within one of the west buttresses of Melrose Abbey, situated in the Scottish Borders. Constructed around the 1200s, it still stands today. The Virgin appears to be slightly defaced but her intricately carved crown, veil, and robes remain intact. Her left arm cradles the headless Child, while a flower is securely held in her right hand. For more information about visiting Melrose Abbey, please visit our website. This statue measures 1430 x 490 x 335mm. MEL/scp/12 | Rae Project
