Statue of the priestess Aristonoe

Discovered at Rhamnous in Attica, a tiny temple of Nemesis holds this remarkable find. The statue remains intact with its base and platform still attached. Its head is intricately decorated. Two separate pieces of marble were used to create the arms. A chiton and a himation cover her entire body, as if she's been dressed for worship. She likely grasped a bowl in her right hand. An inscription on the pedestal reveals that this statue of priestess Aristonoe was dedicated to Themis and Nemesis by her son Hierokles, himself the son of Hieropoios from Rhamnous.
