Statue of St Triduana, St Triduana's Chapel
sketchfab
Carved in 1907, the wooden statue of Saint Triduana vividly illustrates her act of self-mutilation to evade the notice of King Necten, ruler of the Picts. She tightly grasps a thorn upon which her eyeball is pierced. This statue was crafted when the chapel at Restalrig, Edinburgh underwent restoration in 1907. Initially constructed around 1438 by Sir Robert Logan, who held ownership over the Barony of Restalrig, it also houses a well dedicated to Saint Triduana. Water from this spring was believed to be an effective treatment for eye afflictions. To gather information on visiting Saint Triduana’s Chapel, please visit our website.
