Statue of Lucius Aelius Caesar at The State Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg
myminifactory
Lucius Aelius Caesar was born on January 13, 101, and became the adopted son of Roman Emperor Hadrian on January 24, 76 AD. Aelius's birth name was Lucius Ceionius Commodus, but he later took on the title Lucius Aelius Caesar. Despite being intended as Hadrian's successor, Aelius never actually became emperor. The name Lucius Aelius Verus is sometimes mistakenly used to refer to him, although this incorrect designation has no basis in fact outside of the Augustan History.
