Statue of Hermes

The statue of Hermes crafted from Pentelic marble was unearthed at Aigion in the Peloponnese region. The god is portrayed standing upright, with a chlamys draped around his left arm. In his right hand, he grasps a purse, while in his left hand, he holds a caduceus. This work of art dates back to the Augustan period, specifically between 27 BC and AD 14, and is believed to be a funerary monument inspired by Lysippean originals from the 4th century BC. This object is part of "Scan The World," a non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory that aims to create a digital repository of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe for public access at no cost. Scan The World is an open-source community project, and anyone interested in contributing unique items can email stw@myminifactory.com to learn how they can participate.
