This fragment showcases a renowned torso from a copy of the iconic Doryphoros by Polykleitos, a celebrated Greek sculptor of ancient Greece. The figure is that of a robust, athletic warrior, originally armed with a spear resting confidently on his left shoulder. Cast to stand tall above life-size, the original bronze masterpiece would have been crafted around 440 BCE, but its true form is now only known through subsequent marble replicas created during the Roman era.
