This statue showcases Empress Livia in all her glory.\r\nLivia Drusilla, a remarkable woman born around 58 BCE and passing away in 29 AD, holds a significant place in history as the third wife of Emperor Augustus of Rome, mother of Tiberius, and grandmother of Claudius. A true trailblazer, she rose to prominence despite being overshadowed by her powerful husband's presence, serving quietly yet effectively as his trusted advisor and confidant.\r\nIn 42 AD, Livia was officially deified by her grandson Claudius. Even before that, she was often depicted with divine symbols such as ears of grain or a cornucopia, which were meant to promote prosperity through the efforts of the imperial family. The statue has been meticulously restored thanks to the generous support from the Reiss-Engelhorn-Museums in Mannheim.
